Actaea pachypoda
White Baneberry
Description
White Baneberry, or Actaea pachypoda, is also known as Doll’s Eyes and can grow up to two feet tall. White Baneberry is best grown in moist, well-drained soils in part sun to full shade. The herbaceous perennial produces white fruit, appearing July to September. The fruit appears in a cluster of white berries on a branched red stalk with a white dot in the center. The berries are poisonous when consumed, so be sure to keep away from young children and pets. However, wildlife often ignores the fruit, making it deer resistant. White Baneberry is a welcome addition to garden borders, woodlands, and shade gardens.
