Andropogon scoparium
Little Bluestem
$70.00
Description
Andropogon scoparium, or Little Bluestem, is a short warm season clump grass with a dense root system, growing best in average, dry soil and full sun. Once established, Little Bluestem has good drought resistance as it tolerates high heat and humidity. Little Bluestem features linear green leaves with purple-bronze flowers appearing along the stems in late summer. The grass turns an outstanding, bright red in the fall and the flowers are followed by a fluffy silvery-white seed stalk that persist into winter. Little Bluestem makes a great grass for borders, rain gardens, wild gardens, meadows, or prairies.
Andropogon scoparium is also known as Schizachyrium scoparium.
