Carex stricta
Tussock Sedge
Description
Carex stricta, or Tussock Sedge, is a truly beautiful sedge that forms attractive green tussocks (clumps) of fine-leaved foliage. Flowers appear in late spring in reddish-brown spikes on top of its stems. Tussock Sedge is easily grown in moist to wet soils, including standing water, in full sun to part shade. This sedge is best grown in masses as an ornamental for wet meadows, creek margins, stream/pond margins, or other low spots with seasonal flooding.
Carex stricta is also commonly known as Upright Sedge.
