Bottle Gentian
$10.00
Description
Gentiana andrewsii, or Bottle Gentian, is a 1-2 foot tall perennial preferring part sun and moist to wet rich soils. Bottle Gentian’s deep blue bottle-type flowers bloom in late summer to fall. Just be careful transplanting as it resents root disturbance. In modern herbalism, it is used for stomach problems, sinus issues, and occasionally anxiety. Bottle Gentian is pollinated primarily by bumblebees. Once the flower stops blooming, the plant produces seed capsules, releasing tiny seeds dispersed by water and wind. Bottle Gentian is listed as a threatened species in Maryland.
