Goldenseal
$10.00
Description
Hydrastis canadensis, or Goldenseal, is a 1-foot tall woodland native perennial ground cover preferring shade to part sun and moist to well-drained rich in organic matter. Ornamental maple-like leaves and raspberry-like fruit appear atop its upper leaves in late summer. Goldenseal is considered “threatened” in Pennsylvania as it is slow to grow and vulnerable to disturbance and overharvest. Goldenseal is prized for its medicinal uses as an anti-bacterial, and its rhizomes are known for their anti-inflammatory properties.
