Description
Trillium recurvatum, or Prairie Trillium is a lovely spring perennial with wine-red flowers on top its three, spreading, mottled leaves. The flowers curve inward toward their tips and the sepals hang downward from the flower. One of the earliest blooming trilliums, it blooms at the same time as Virginia Bluebells. Prairie Trillium does well in light shade and slightly damp or moist soils.
Did you know Trilliums are slow to develop due to their slow period of active growth in spring? It can take up to 10 years for a plant to reach flowering size in the wild.
