Zizia aurea
Golden Alexander
Description
Zizia aurea, or Golden Alexander, is a 1-3 foot, late spring flowering perennial for moist to wet soils in full to part sun. Golden Alexander’s attractive bright yellow flowering flat-topped umbels appear in late spring alongside a coarser leaf structure than Zizia aptera. The perennial is more suited to naturalizing in wet meadows, and it is a nectar source for butterflies.
